CTT Champions Night 21 January 2012
A small party of seven (Mike and Sheila Edwards, Andy and Jacqui Cook, Keith and Barbara Wright and Ernie Clayton) attended the CTT Champions Night at Hinckley on Saturday 21 January to honour and celebrate the achievements of fellow club member Jeff Jones.
Jeff, who attended with his girlfriend Liz, was awarded the British Best All Rounder (BBAR) cup. The competition takes the fastest average speed over 3 events - 50miles, 100 miles and 12 hours and Jeff achieved over 28 mph. In the 12 hour event Jeff covered 305.51 miles and set a new national record. He was also the runner-up in the Rudy Project competition.
The evening was attended by 375 people and the presentations were followed by dinner.
Some of the well known cyclists in attendance were: Martin Roach, John Woodburn, Michael (Doc) Hutchinson and Julia Shaw. Graham Obree MBE, who was guest of honour, presented the awards assisted by Sheila Hardy, CTT Chairperson. The commentary was provided by David Harmon of Eurosport.
Sadly we are loosing Jeff, as a first claim member, to www.Drag2Zero, a sponsored team. However, he will remain as a second claim member of the Wheelers and has recently been awarded lifetime membership. We wish him good luck for the future and will be following his progress.
