Great news – the CTT have announced that time trials can resume from next week. Our first evening time trial will be on Wednesday 15 July.
Extract from CTT letter – which is on their website
This update relates to CTT events in England only. It does not relate to events in Wales or Scotland.
Currently, all CTT Type B ‘club’ events are suspended up to and including 12 July 2020 and all Type A ‘open’ events are suspended up to and including 17 July 2020.
Having considered the amended government guidelines and legislation released on 04 July, the Board of Cycling Time Trials is pleased to confirm that as the situation stands at present, it is not proposed to extend that suspension of events further and that competition can resume.
Accordingly, CTT Type B ‘club’ events can be held from and including Monday 13 July 2020 and all CTT events, to include Type A ‘open’ events, can be held from and including Saturday 18 July 2020.
Unfortunately CTT have changed their position on the resumption of time trialing and we cannot now restart on 8 July as per the article below. CTT have therefore extended the suspension for another week till 12 July in expectation that government guidance will be clearer.
My sincere apologies for raising your hopes too soon! Watch this space for updates
You will have seen in the recent club newsletter the welcome news that we intend to restart club evening time trials from Wednesday 8 July. Inevitably there will be some differences to our normal running of the events as we will be complying with the CTT COVID19 Risk Assessment and adhering to social distancing regulations as stated by the Government on any given date.
The calendar has been amended and the season extended till the end of September so that we can still run a reduced Jack Nunn Series, the 25 and 50 mile time trials, as well as the Sheila Edwards 10, the 2-Up and the Roberts Hill climb.
Unfortunately, the Open Event calendar has been decimated across the country so the Time Trial Championship cannot be competed for and the WTTA Hardriders series is incomplete so the Ted Barlow cannot be awarded. However, as West DC are hosting the National 100 using elements of the U86 course the club 100 mile trophy is still up for grabs!
Although some details are still being worked out the running of the evening events will be as follows:
- Please notify Paul Winchcombe of your intent to ride this season
- Please read the COVID19 Risk Assessment on the CTT Site and the associated guidance at: https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/articles/view/562 and follow the links for
- COVID-19 Risk Assessment
- Guidance – Putting on a Cycling Time Trials Event during COVID-19
- Signing on will be at Queen’s Field – please use your own pen
- Riders will be invoiced at the end of the season so that there are no cash payments on the day. So please confirm your email address legibly when signing on.
- You will be issued with a disposable number at each event. So as riders may be out of numerical order at the end you must shout your number out clearly when finishing.
- Do not congregate at the finish. Results will be posted online.
- There will be no pusher off.
- Marshals for the right turn and start timekeeper are still required.
- Don’t forget you need a REAR LIGHT!
Club Time Trial Programme 2020 – will be uploaded to calendar and race pages shortly
