Entry fee for club members £1 (non-members £2). Please bring the exact change to drop in our container at the start.
The registration desk will be open from 8.10am onwards by the tennis courts. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start to pay your entry fee and collect your brevet card.
Please note that attendance of this ride requires advanced booking. Please use this simple booking form.
The form is a mandatory for all riders, so the organiser knows who and how many to expect and so we have a record of everyone riding on the day. Your cooperation to complete this in advance of the ride will be much appreciated.
The 5th in our series of audax rides. This is our classic ride into the Cotswolds to the picturesque village of Bibury. There is an optional first stop at the Jolly Nice Cafe, near Frampton Mansell. Note this is a drive through take away at the moment, with seating in their garden area.
We then head through Sapperton and Winstone for the lumpy part of the ride, either side of Rendcomb. From there we descent into the beautiful Coln Valley and pass nearby Chedworth Roman Villa. Our lunch stop is at Bibury, recommended cafe is the Bibury Trout Farm Cafe.
After lunch we continue along the Coln Valley to Coln St.Aldwyns and Fairford, and then ease through the Cotswold Water Park to Malmesbury, where there is a choice of cafes for those wanting to break the journey home. The final stage brings us home via Grittleton and Biddestone.
We haven’t been able to organise the cafes to stamp your cards this time, so there are just two Information Controls for you to note on the ride to prove your passage. The questions will be in your brevet card – don’t forget your pencil to note down the answer, or just take a photo and write it in when you get home. The first Info Control is just after Coates and the second one is in Bibury.
Finish will be at Chippenham Sports Club. We don’t plan to have anyone stamping cards at the finish but will leave the Finish stamp behind the bar (if they are still open) – just ask the bar staff to stamp your card and write in the finish time for you. Otherwise just note down your finish time in your brevet card when you get home, take a photo of your card and email it to audax@chippenhamwheelers.org
