ROUTE: RIDE WITH GPS - CR15 Challenge Ride – White Horses from Marlborough

An update relating to stopping points in Hungerford and Wantage.  Elaine of Hungerford is at The Courtyard, 24 High Street RG17 0NF. (///forehand.amplifier.rhino). There is an outside space to enjoy coffee and cake.  A passage alongside the building leads to the space at the back.

In Wantage, there are a number of outlets on the Market Place (///ambushed.contexts.lately) to support most tastes for lunch; Costa Coffee, The Panini Shop and Greggs to name a few.  We should be able to sit on the steps beneath King Alfred’s statue to enjoy the sunshine.

The route passes through both of these location.

The ride will begin promptly (///ballpoint.cookie.witty) at 09:00, heading into Marlborough and taking the river path in a westerly direction towards Clatford, southwest then to Boreham and Alton Barns.  The route then turns east to Pewsey, Burbage, Great Bedwyn to our first stop in Hungerford.

We continue in an easterly direction, essentially following the river Kennet flood plain until turning north at Marsh Benham and heading towards Farnborough and Wantage, where we make a second stop.

From Wantage, we head west on the northern edge of the North Wessex Downs, making a brief detour to the Uffington Castle, White Horse & Dragon Hill.  Its then south west through Ashbury, Bishopstone, Foxhill, Chiseldon, the Ogbourne’s St George & Andrew, and back to the Rugby Ground in Marlborough.

Please note that attendance of this ride requires advanced booking. Please use this simple booking form.

The form is a mandatory for all riders, so the organiser knows who and how many to expect and so we have a record of everyone riding on the day. Your cooperation to complete this in advance of the ride will be much appreciated. It also means we can email you if there is any change in the ride information or cancellation. There is no need to notify us if you subsequently change your mind and decide not to ride, but a short email to the address below will ensure your name is taken off the list.

Experienced riders are asked to help keep the groups to a manageable size on the road.
