WHEN: 24/07/2021 9:00 am
CATEGORY: Off-road Ride
EVENT ORGANISER: Sheni Jiwa
START LOCATION: Chippenham Rugby Club
RIDE DISTANCE: 45 MILES
ROUTE: RIDE WITH GPS - ***CANCELLED*** OR010 Off-road along the Wansdyke and Ridgeway

*** Ride cancelled due to risk of thunderstorms – we’ll hopefully re-schedule for sometime in August ***

MTB or gravel bikes with tyres suitable for gravel riding are recommended for this ride.

Route now posted below. We’ll ride out to Avebury for morning coffee at the Circle Cafe before climbing up to the Ridgeway. This time we’ll head south to East Kennett and then take some uncharted woodland by-way up to the White Horse Trail which we follow to Knap Hill with fantastic views to the south across Pewsey Vale. The route then follows the Tan Hill Way up onto the Wansdyke which we follow for about 5 miles with stunning views to the north including Silbury Hill. After reaching Morgan’s Hill we pick up the Wessex Ridgeway to Cherhill Monument and then drop down to Cherhill and retrace the Calne to Chippenham cyclepath back home.

This route takes in the best views from the very top of Wiltshire. Please note there are no cafes or shops after Avebury so bring some food and drink to keep yourself going.
