We trust that you had a good Christmas, and managed to ride plenty of miles to help burn off some of the excess pounds from all of those mince pies?! Here’s a copy of our newsletter that went out a few days ago, just in case you missed it. Below you will find a round-up of some of our news, highlights and events from the festive period, and just a few of the things we’ve got to look forward in the Club calendar over the next couple of months… |
CHRISTMAS EVE RIDE 2018. Well, what can we say other than WOW! We counted well over 60 of you out cycling around the chilly, but not too muddy lanes of Wiltshire, making it one of our best attended Christmas Eve rides EVER! As always, it was great to see everyone having fun and enjoying themselves, a fantastic effort on some of those fancy dress outfits and decorated bikes too. There was however, one costume in particular that seemed to catch our eye, and not necessarily in a good way! Answers on a postcard if you can work out which Club member we’re talking about… |
NEW YEAR’S DAY KILO RACE. For the first time in a very long time, we were lucky enough to hold this year’s event in cool, but dry conditions, it’s simply unheard of! A good turnout (possibly due to the forecast) for the annual 1km sprint up the tarmac, but who took the coveted shiny prize? For a full race report and results click here |
SOME SAD NEWS. As some of you may have already heard and read, we sadly lost one the stalwarts of our Club, Shelia Edwards, at the end of last year. Shelia had been a long-standing member, and dedicated her time to helping others do what they enjoy, and that’s riding their bikes. The funeral will be held on Monday 21st January 1:30pm at St. Peters Church, Lords Mead, Chippenham, SN14 0LL, followed by burial at Chippenham Cemetery, London Road, SN15 3RD. The family welcome all to The Angel Hotel (Avon Suite), Market Place Chippenham, SN15 3HD afterwards. For the full story on Sheila’s incredible life click here |
NEW CLUB HOUSE. It’s official – as of the 1st of this month, we have moved to our new home, the Sports & Social Club! For those of you who regularly attend the weekly Club night, fear not, we’ll still be be holding these every Wednesday, meeting in the Members Bar upstairs. We are also currently in the process of submitting a full list of Club members names so membership cards will be issued shortly. For more details click here |
CLUB AUDAX SERIES. A Club favourite – the Club Audax series begins again this month, with our first 50km ride heading to beautiful Brinkworth. Audax rides will now start and finish at The Sports & Social Club where you’ll find free parking, changing rooms and shower facilities. It’s £2.50 for Club members (£3.50 non-members), which includes tea and cake at the Village Hall. We are also now looking for volunteers to help out on the day, if you have a couple of hours spare on the morning of Sunday 20th January, please email us at secretary@ |
CLUB KIT PORTAL. The portal for club kit (new design) is now open – items can be ordered up until Sunday 13th January with delivery time of approx 6 weeks. To find out how to purchase your super duper new kit click here |
And finally… |
CLUB DINNER & AWARDS NIGHT 2019. Have you heard our exciting news about the Club Dinner’s special guest yet? No? Then you are in for an absolute treat, as we have a very important person from British Cycling joining us, Chief Executive Officer, Julie Harrington. Julie has an extensive career history and wealth of experience within the Sports industry, and certainly has a few stories to tell. We can’t wait to see you all there, and look forward to welcoming Julie along to what is set to be a fun evening. To book your tickets click here |
