The third in our series of audax rides for 2025. This is our club’s traditional Open Audax which typically attracts over 100 riders from across our region. The event is promoted through the Audax UK website.
This year will be the 25th edition of this long running event, so we hope to make it extra special!
We will be providing 3 village hall controls in Charlton, Kemble and Sherston where our club will provide tea/coffee, cake, flapjack (of course!) and beans on toast to all the 100+ riders. Everyone finishes up at Chippenham Sports Club for post-ride refreshments in the main function room (the bar will be open). We hope to be showing the Paris-Nice cycling race live on the big screen too.
We offer a limited number of FREE ENTRY places to any Chippenham Wheeler club member who can help on the day, whilst also riding the event! We need around 25 helpers on the day to make the event a success. If you’ve ridden and enjoyed the event previously we encourage you to volunteer and help others enjoy the Flapjack fun!
No prior experience is needed to help and you can be assured it will be fun for you too! We ask the rider-helpers to set-off earlier than the main bunch and help out at either Charlton Village Hall or ride on further to help at Kemble Village Hall. Once your hall control has closed you can enjoy the fun of chasing down the other riders to the finish. In this way, as a Wheelers club member, you can enjoy riding and helping and still have your ride validated for the club series and with Audax UK.
We also need non-riding helpers at all the village halls too, who can help transport the cakes and other supplies by car.
How to register to help and/or ride:
If you are a Chippenham Wheelers club member and want to ride and help then please register using this booking form where you can indicate your preferences. As the event is run under AUK regulations the entry process is a little different, but it’s quite simple.
If you are able to help on the day without riding the full route or can help with car transportation of cakes etc then please email audaxchippenham@gmail.com to let us know.
If you just want to ride without helping or you are not a Chippenham Wheelers club member then please enter and pay through the Audax UK website via this link (£10.00 if you are an Audax UK or Cycling UK member, otherwise £13.00). Please enter early to avoid disappointment as the event usually sells out, after which we have to close entries.
Route details will be e-mailed to all registered entrants including our helpers approx 1-2 weeks before the event.
