Off-Road Evening ride OR-012 Broadmead Brook and Truckle Hill

Off-Road Evening ride OR-012 Broadmead Brook and Truckle Hill

17 Jun 2021 By Sheni Jiwa

WHEN: 17/06/2021 6:00 pm
CATEGORY: Off-road Ride
EVENT ORGANISER: Sheni Jiwa
START LOCATION: Chippenham Rugby Club (entrance gates)
RIDE DISTANCE: 18 MILES
ROUTE: RIDE WITH GPS - Off-Road Evening ride OR-012 Broadmead Brook and Truckle Hill

Thursday evening off-road ride, around 20-25 miles, riding a mix of by-ways and bridleways with inter-linking tarmac road sections. Expect gravel, grass and farm tracks and the occasional bit of mud if it’s been particularly wet.

A more challenging route this week with some technical climbing and descending. Expect some rough and stony sections in a few places – front suspension would be nice to have!  We will round off the evening at the Bell Inn, Yatton Keynell for post-ride refreshments.

Change of Meet-up: now meeting at Chippenham Rugby Club, outside the entrance gates, ready to depart at 6.00pm. Or join the ride from Biddestone Duck Pond at 6.10pm.

Route: we’ll decide route a few days beforehand, depending on conditions and post the RWGPS link below.

Bike type: our routes are best suited to MTBs. Front suspension would be nice to have but not essential. Most of the routes are rideable on gravel bikes, but you’ll need to be confident of your skills on any technical sections.

Refreshments: we’ll usually round off the ride with an optional refreshment stop at a pub, or maybe at the Sports Club bar.

Tyres: we’ve found that gravel tyres with a minimum 1.75″ width are best suited to our routes

Pre-entry booking: please note that attendance of this ride requires advanced booking for COVID track and trace purposes. Please use this simple booking form using the name you are registered with in Rider HQ. Please complete the form for each member wishing to attend.

The form is a mandatory for all riders, so we can make our rides as COVID safe as possible for all of us. Your cooperation to complete this in advance of the ride will help the start go smoothly and will be much appreciated.

The Club’s Covid Risk Assessment can be seen here.

Any issues with the above process can be directed to leisureride@chippenhamwheelers.org.
