MTB or gravel bikes with tyres suitable for gravel riding are recommended for this ride.
The route includes gravel cyclepaths and by-ways as far as Avebury before climbing chalk track up to the Ridgeway. We’ll take fast flowing gravel tracks across Fyfield and Manton Downs before picking up the road into Marlborough. From here we follow gravel cyclepath to Ogbourne St George and then climb back up to the Ridgeway via chalk and grass tracks through Barbury Castle and then onwards to reach the top of Hackpen Hill. We then follow tarmac most of the way home, with a couple of short sections of by-way and bridleway and a slight diversion thrown in to keep it interesting. Coffee stop options at the Circle Cafe in Avebury or at various cafes in Marlborough.
