Wiltshire Council is in the process of developing Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs) for the principal settlements and market towns in Wiltshire, as well as the key routes between them. These plans are all intended to help make walking and cycling the natural choices for shorter journeys or as part of a longer journey.
Chippenham, Devizes and Trowbridge LCWIPs consultation
The Council is currently developing LCWIPs for Chippenham, Devizes and Trowbridge and running a consultation on these three developing plans from Tuesday 28 June to Monday 1 August 2022.
The Council held an informative webinar on these three LCWIPs on Tuesday 28 June. Watch the webinar recording.
The plans will show which cycling and walking routes are targeted for investment to improve them in order to increase use for commuting, local transport or other journeys.
The Council has developed maps of Chippenham, Devizes and Trowbridge showing both current and potential cycling routes that may be desirable for investment over the next 10-20 years. The consultation is not just about the routes we have today, but about the routes we should have in the future.
To see the Chippenham, Devizes and Trowbridge developing plans, and to have your say, please follow this link to the LCWIPs consultation page.
Select ‘Chippenham’ (or the other towns) and then select Primary, Secondary or Tertiary Cycling routes. You can then select and zoom into individual routes. Then click the ‘Add Feedback’ button to add your comments – which routes you think would be good to develop, how they could be improved and perhaps other routes you would like to see included. You can pin your comments to specific points on the routes.
With our club’s local knowledge of the cycling network this a brilliant opportunity to influence Chippenham’s cycling infrastructure development for the next generation, so we’d encourage everyone to have a good look at the consultation website and contribute suggestions where you can before the consultation closes on the 1st August.
