We have reached the end of the club evening time trials for the Jack Nunn series and many other events for this year. Next Wednesday, 4 September, sees the end of season hill climb at Bowden Hill, Lacock. Many will know that the results and commentary are published each week on the club Facebook page but I am also aware that many do not use Facebook. All of those reports will be shortly collated into a page on the club website. However, in the meantime here is the report from this week’s final Jack Nunn 10 mile time trial and the Jack Nunn results and analysis.
So the last of the evening 10 mile series returned to it’s primary course with no roadworks, an improved surface from Dauntsey to Little Somerford and a record entry for this year, with 14 riders. It was a pleasant evening with a tail wind on the out, although MyWindsock did report more headwind than assist. Still the times were not bad with Paul recording his third best of the year for the course and achieving his weekly aim of defeating Peter (sorry, had to say it). Neil and Andy both continued true to form arriving lastminute.com for signing on, but they were there.
As Sue is away shortly on RAB the TTers presented her with some flowers (so she has time to appreciate them) and a bottle of (hopefully nice wine from a beer drinker) to say thank you to her for turning out each week in all weathers. The riders have the option of not being there but she does not and even on the wettest of evenings she lets the riders decide if we are going to race.
It was nice to see Robbie (on dubious photo duty) and Nicki, along with Mike Griffin supporting the final 10 of the year. It should be noted that Jamie rode his fastest 10 of the year for UC861 by some margin, which shows the benefit of riding a 12 hour a couple of weeks before as training.
