Audax Series 2025 – Update & Provisional Results

We’ve now held 4 of our 7 audaxes in this year’s series so it’s time to share the provisional results, which you can see further below

The Kennet Kangaroo 125km Audax – Sunday 13th April

25 of us turned out to ride April’s audax. Roadworks at Catcomb forced a late change of route to go up the recently re-opened Lyneham Banks, formerly Britain’s “wonkiest road”, now stabilised with piling and mostly re-surfaced, except the bit with potholes at the bottom!

Mercers cafe in Marlborough once again brought in extra staff and opened up early for us. Sticks and Stones at Woodborough did a good job serving us all too. Both cafe owners were thanked before we left. Weather was cool and dry with a light westerly, just a few spots of rain that never turned into anything that would bother us.

There seemed to be a few less complaints about the 17% hop over Spring Hill this year. Perhaps we need to find some new hills to “enjoy”……?!

George’s Gut Buster 150km Audax – Sunday 11th May

We’ve got a brand new route for our next audax, heading over the Cotswolds, just about as far north as we can go on a 150km ride. You might even be able to get an imperial century out of this one if you’re keen. The route takes us over some beautiful countryside and through gorgeous Cotswold villages to the edge of the Vale of Evesham, where you’ll eventually discover George and his gut busting return route!

The route will be published in the club calendar a few days beforehand, after we’ve done the final route check.

Provisional Results after 4 of 7 audaxes

Provisional results to date for current club members are listed in the table below. Medals are awarded at the end of the season for total distances ridden over 4+ audaxes. Bronze for more than 350km, Silver for more than 500km and Gold for more than 750km.

Congratulations to the 16 members who have already achieved Bronze by riding all 4 events to date. With the 150km, 175km and 200km rides still to come there is the potential to complete another 525km before the season is over to earn a Bronze, Silver or even Gold medal.

Please do check your name in the results table further below and let us know if any updates are needed. Email Sheni through leisureride@chippenhamwheelers.org

If you can’t make the date but would still like to ride the route and have it count towards your medal award then remember you can do this by helping to check the route for us as a helper’s ride before the event – but please contact Sheni first.
