Your esteemed Committee would like to hear your suggestions for our Club charity for 2016. This will be discussed at our next meeting on the 4th of January.
Every year we choose a new charity to support. Donations come via profits from events such as Midsummer Bike Night, our weekly tea and cake fund and also often by generous individual donations from our members.
In previous years we have donated to Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Doorway, Wiltshire Search and Rescue, Dorothy House Hospice, Age UK and Life Cycle. The charity chosen for 2015 was Chippenham Talking Newspapers.
If you have a suggestion please email email@example.com. Please be aware that ideas such as 'My titanium winter bike appeal' are unlikely to be considered.
By popular decision it was decided by the last gathering to put off rides till the "finer weather" and just meet to talk about and look at bikes and components, in the meanwhile. It was also agreed Saturday afternoon in a cafe or pub was the best time, allowing for the rides on Saturday morning.
Next Meeting is therefore planned to be held at the Wellesley Arms in Sutton Benger at 2pm on Saturday 23 January 2016
All members welcome, just bring along anything of interest eg old components, pictures, books, or just come to look at other people's treasures ( junk).
The annual hangover cure is being run on Friday 1st January at Castle Combe Race Course. The "Kilo" is that chance to pit yourself against fellow sufferers for the glory of 1,000 metres (a Kilometre) on the smooth and almost flat surface of the Castle Combe race track surface. Your effort should be under 2 minutes (even Paul Freegard on "Gazelle" achieved this) and you can try to beat our reigning champion – Simon Kay who completed the distance last year in 1:12:59.
There is also a 500m event for the junior members of the club.
The event starts at 1100 hrs, so all are asked to be at Castle Combe from 1030 hrs to register. Please use the rear entrance, the main gates will be locked.
After the event the Clubhouse will be open for lunch (bring your own contributions please) and for you to share your plans for 2016.
