After COVID we changed to paying for club evening time trials at the end of each season. This prevented the perceived risk of handling “contaminated” change and also overcame the issue that with the move away from the Scout Hut any entry fees could not easily be paid to the Treasurer. The system has worked quite well but has presented an administrative overhead and has required the Racing Secretary to chase some people and additional liaison with the Treasurer. With the advent of more modern payment options the committee has agreed that we will be reverting to payment on the night. A Sum Up machine will be used for card payments (either with a card or phone or watch or any other system which makes payment magic) on the night. The time trial organisers will not be taking cash, so riders must remember to bring a working payment method.
If a rider is unable to pay their entry fee on the night they will be allowed to carry over one week to the next. However, riders will not be allowed to ride 2 weeks in a row without paying and persistent defaulting may also lead to riders not being allowed to compete. Of course if a rider is unable to ride then they may of course offer to marshal or help in some other way on the night.
