The club ran the inaugural time trial on a new 10 mile time trial course at Ashton Keynes along the Spine Road to the Cotswold Water Park and to Latton- known as U41. The event attracted 50 riders, which is the largest number we have had since stopping events on the A419, presumably because the course looked so flat. We were blessed with a glorious morning – dry, sunny and almost windless which allowed riders to give of their best. However, those that ride the club leisure rides know that the road surface in that area has its own special challenge as it sucks speed out of your ride and many riders did comment on that aspect. However, all enjoyed the course – with a hard left turn near the start challenging the unwary, a bit of pothole avoidance on the Spine Road but no different to most roads these days and expertly marked up by Ian Potts, attacking the climb to the roundabouts and then returning from the Latton roundabout. (The course can be seen at: https://www.strava.com/activities/1550701736).
Note: any mistakes in rider names, order of name, capitalisation, etc below are down to how they have entered their details in the CTT database and not down to my poor eyesight!
