Last Tuesday we presented a donation of just over £1,100 to Gwynn Rees of Chippenham Talking Newspapers. This represented the amount we raised from our succesful Midsummer Bike Night back in June.
Yesterday we received a letter of thanks from Gwyn: –
"On behalf of all of us involved in the Chippenham Talking Newspapers, the committee, readers, recorders and our many listeners I would like to thank you for the very generous donation you made to our cause.
Please convey our appreciation to all your club members, not least to everyone who joined in the fund-raising ride on the Castle Combe some months ago. Margaret and I thoroughly enjoyed that evening and loved to see so many youngsters and families obviously enjoying themselves.
We would also like to thank you personally for the welcome you extended us on Tuesday evening and for you part in raising the funds. Thanks also for forwarding the pictures, I will attach one of them to an article I will write to the G&H and forward it to you to add to by Monday. In our recordings this week we have been able to tell our listeners about, not only your donation to us but also the work you are doing in the community to encourage more youngsters into taking an active part Cycling.
Just as you get great satisfaction in seeing new recruits so we love to see the pleasure our recordings bring to our listeners.
Your generous donation has now put us in a comfortable position to produce new and improved advertising leaflets to reach more potential listeners, we can also increase our stock of memory sticks and other equipment, cover our on-going running costs such as rent, insurance etc. for the next year."
