WHEN: 17/04/2022 9:00 am
CATEGORY: Club Audax
EVENT ORGANISER: Sheni Jiwa
START LOCATION: Chippenham Rugby Club
RIDE DISTANCE: 80 MILES
ROUTE: RIDE WITH GPS - 125km Audax

Entry fee for club members £1 (non-members £2). Please bring the exact change to drop in our container at the start.

The registration desk will be open from 8.30am onwards by the tennis courts. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start to pay your entry fee and collect your brevet card.

Please note that attendance of this ride requires advanced booking. Please use this simple booking form.

The form is a mandatory for all riders, so the organiser knows who and how many to expect and so we have a record of everyone riding on the day. Your cooperation to complete this in advance of the ride will be much appreciated.

The 4th in our series of audax rides. We have changed the route a bit for this year, leaving out the worst of last year’s hills but adding in some new ones for you. The route takes us out via Broad Hinton and over Hackpen Hill and onwards across the downs to our first stop in Marlborough. Mercer’s Cafe have kindly agreed to open and host us and will be stamping your brevet cards.

Suitably refreshed, we head along the Kennet Valley to Ramsbury for our information control. The question will be in your brevet card – don’t forget your pencil to note down the answer. Crossing the Kennet we haul ourselves up the thankfully short but steep Spring Hill. With that behind us the roads  start to flow as we head south to Froxfield and the Bedwyns.

The route then criss-crosses the K&A Canal taking us west to our lunch stop at Sticks and Stones Cafe in Woodborough. They’ve kindly agreed to stamp your brevet cards too.

Re-fuelled we head for home via Roundway, Bromham and Lacock.

Finish will be at Chippenham Sports Club where the annual Open Day should be in full swing (until 4pm) with the upstairs bar open. We don’t plan to have anyone stamping cards at the finish this time, so note down your finish time, take a photo of your card and email it to audax@chippenhamwheelers.org

We recommend you study the route sheet, even if you don’t plan to use it as it has important information for your safety and enjoyment of the ride – see links below. You’ll need to print your own copy if you want to use it on the ride.
