Audax Series Update & Results

We’ve now held 5 of our 7 Audaxes in this year’s series. Since the last update we’ve been lucky to enjoy excellent weather on both the 125km and 150km Audaxes. As a slight change to the 150km Audax we arranged to finish the ride with refreshments at the Flying Monk, which seemed to provide a great incentive to get back before closing time at 4.00pm! Provisional results to date are listed in the table below. Medals are awarded at the end of the season for total distances ridden over 4+ audaxes. Bronze for more than 350km, Silver for more than 500km and Gold for more than 750km. Congratulations to Paul Freegard, David Glass, Tom Laing, Stewart Smith and Dylan Spencer for already achieving Silver by completing all 5 audaxes to date. Congratulations are also due to a further 13 of you currently on Bronze. With the 175km and 200km rides still to come everyone has the potential to complete another 375km before the season is over! Please do check your name in the results table further below and let us know if any updates are needed. Email Sheni through leisureride@chippenhamwheelers.org

Coming soon! Club 175km and 200km Audaxes

Next up is our 175km Audax visiting Sherborne, Dorset on Sunday 11th June, which will have quite a few changes in the route this year, which we hope you like. Our 7th and final Audax will be the traditional Fish and Chip ride to the seaside, which is a full 200km randonnée, on Saturday 8th July. We’re hoping the new Pier-to-Pier cycleway will be open between Clevedon and Weston-super-mare in time, so we can make this route even better, avoiding the busy A road section. Route and entry details for both 175km and 200km events will be published in the website calendar 1-2 weeks before the dates. Both rides will have pub finishes to which everyone is welcome to join us for a drink, whether riding the event or not. If you can’t make the date but would still like to ride the route and have it count towards your medal award then remember you can do this by helping to check the route for us as a helper’s ride in the 2 weeks before the event – just get in touch with Sheni first.
